As we shop at independent local businesses, let’s remember that the climate emergency will cause even more death and disruption that COVID, although it will hit us more gradually. Total deaths and economic disruption will be even greater than the pandemic, so be sure to shop for products that have lower climate impact.
• Avoid all plastics, including polyester and ‘technical’ fabrics in clothing.
• Avoid anything that uses any form of fossil fuel.
• If looking at foods or beverages, buy those that are packaged in glass, not plastic. (Also avoid aluminum cans, many of which are lined with a dangerous plastic similar to BPA.)
