Please listen to
“Hard times come again no more”
Arlo Guthrie and Jim Wilson
featuring Vanessa Bryan

Arlo 1

We’re not so different

We all have suffered, have had hard times

We have  all worked our way up or are trying

We’re all in this together

Arlo 2

———-

Tip o’ the hat to Tim Gallagher, who is not too young to feel Arlo Guthrie the way his parents did.

  1. Speaking of old for tunes that are still 100% in tune with current times, how about Woody Guthrie’s ‘Plane Wreck At Los Gatos Canyon’ [aka ‘Deportees’]

Almost all of Buffy Ste. Marie’s wonderful, ground-breaking work. [Try ‘My Country ‘Tis of Thy People You’re Dying’]

  2. Thank you. That was beautiful, poetic, inspiring, and emotional. Wonderful photography. Tears at the end. I love Arlo.

I saw Arlo for the first time years ago at Musikfest, in the field behind Moravian lower campus. sitting on a blanket close to the stage, with friends, drinking wine. It was a sultry evening, threatening rain, but Arlo did 4 encores. Finally, he said “Even I can’t hold off the rain any longer” and bowed off the stage. And then it POURED.  Best concert I’ve ever been to.

Except when I saw Arlo and Pete Seeger at a park in New Jersey a couple of years later.

I play Alice’s Restaurant every Thanksgiving.
